It’s New Years!! We made it to the end of the year and let me tell you, this year went by so fast for me. I hope you guys had an amazing 2018 and if you didn’t, 2019 is your year! Here are 5 ways to kick off your 2019 on a positive note!
The start of a new year is a great time to sort through your stuff. One place I like to start is in the kitchen, sorting through any old food and cleaning out my fridge. Another great place is to clean out your clothes and shoes. Make sure you only have items you actually use! A cluttered space is a cluttered mind! It took me a long time to realize clutter is a cause for my anxiety. I like to constantly sort through my items and donate anything I am no longer using.
I highly recommend reading the book “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying up” if you are in need of motivation on how and where, to begin with sorting through clutter if you are overwhelmed.
Never underestimate the power of reading! Books are an amazing tool to take advantage of. You can learn so much and teach yourself new things. My favorite types of books to read are self-improvement books because I love how uplifting they are and I find them highly motivating.
Meditate and Journal more
A lot of us don’t take enough time for ourselves but this is where a lot of development can come from. Taking the time to meditate and journal every day allows us to start each day by setting your intentions and also getting to know yourself. Imagine how good it would feel to just vent out anything and everything that is on your mind and be able to move forward or use it to help resolve an issue. Also, if you are someone like me who wakes up anxious, meditating can help calm you down so you can go into your day calmer!
Law of Attraction
As many of you probably know, the law of attraction is the act of focusing on something and attracting that back at you. So, if you are constantly focusing on all the bad things going on in your life, how depressed you are or even how worthless you are, this is exactly what you will attract. Bad things will likely keep happening to you and if something positive did happen you probably wouldn’t be able to recognize it. Keep your thoughts positive for a more fulfilled life! You deserve it!!
Other ways to implement the Law of Attraction:
Positive self-talk, make sure you are talking to yourself with respect. Stop telling yourself you are no good because you are just going to believe that. Especially if you are telling yourself that every day. Try building yourself up with better things!
Gratitude Journal, the 5-minute journal is an amazing tool to use to help train your brain into being more grateful for what you do have. If you don’t want to buy a special journal, try writing down at least 5 things you are grateful for every day! You won’t believe the impact it has on your life!!
Environment, your surroundings have a major influence on your life and future. Make sure your environment is helping you grow to the person you want to be. If it isn’t, you might want to consider changing your environment to something that will have a positive impact on your life and goals.
Get your body moving
I know I’ve been speaking a lot about a healthy mind but fitness is just as important! Now is the time to really hone in and get your body moving. Find your favorite way to workout even if its just stretching! Working out is so important for our mental state. My favorite form of working out is yoga. I love the mind-body connection I get from the practice and it’s something I’m able to do at home!
But of course, aside from it being new years, it is so important to take care of yourself mentally and physically every day, all year long. This type of stuff is really hard and doesn’t come naturally to a lot of people but once you start practicing them every day it starts to become a habit that you automatically do!
